Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps
A quick and healthy dinner featuring ground chicken, water chestnuts, and a flavorful sauce, all wrapped in crisp lettuce leaves.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon peanut oil
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 (8-ounce) can water chestnuts, drained and chopped
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 head butter lettuce, leaves separated
Notes
For a spicier version, add a dash of sriracha or red pepper flakes to the sauce.

Heat peanut oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add ground chicken and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the chicken as it cooks; drain excess fat.

Stir in onion, garlic, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and ginger until onions have become translucent, about 1-2 minutes.

Stir in water chestnuts and green onions until tender, about 1-2 minutes; season with salt and pepper, to taste.

To serve, spoon several tablespoons of the chicken mixture into the center of a lettuce leaf, taco-style.
